Ray Laken’s favorite activity is watching the sunset on Lake Mendota. The colors inspire their art — they love spreading joy by crafting handmade cards for every occasion!
The name of our yellow Chairling, Ray Laken, celebrates bright and sunny days on the Terrace. Ray nods to the Terrace Chair color that inspired this plushie: Sunshine Yellow! Their last name, Laken, was chosen to recognize Madison’s five gorgeous lakes: Mendota, Monona, Waubesa, Wingra and Kegonsa.
Maple Fields grew up farming in Wisconsin and loves baking and cooking with fresh ingredients. She always shares her creations with friends — pancakes are her favorite!
Named after Wisconsin’s rich farming tradition, Maple Fields is inspired by the John Deere green Terrace chairs that decorate the Memorial Union Terrace each year! Her first name is an homage to Wisconsin’s state tree, the Sugar Maple, which was first selected by a vote of Wisconsin schoolchildren in 1893 and later re-elected as the state symbol in 1948.
