Volunteer Action

Get involved with Volunteer Action:

The Wisconsin Union Directorate Volunteer Action Committee is centered on creating meaningful service opportunities right here on campus. Through pop-up events and hands-on projects, students can make an impact in their community while building connections and learning through teamwork.

Volunteer Action fosters student-to-community connections through an ethical volunteerism framework based on transparency and accountability. Committee members and event participants will:

• Demonstrate a willingness to learn about various need-based community organizations

• Share a passion to volunteer that comes from a place of receptiveness and real engagement within the community

• Participate in personal and collective reflection before, during, and after experiences

• Nurture trusting relationships with partner organizations and the communities they impact

In addition to campus-based service, the committee has the opportunity to organize day trips to nearby cities and/or a spring break experience that offers opportunities to volunteer and learn beyond Madison.

All Volunteer Action events and trips are planned and led by student committee members. If you’re interested in supporting a specific community need, join us to help design service opportunities that reflect the issues you care about. Together, we can create a more engaged, compassionate, and connected campus community.
