The Funds That Support Magic And Possibilities
During Day of the Badger, we ask you to join us in support of the people behind the magic of the Wisconsin Union and in keeping our more than 110-year legacy of magical experiences going.
Your Gift Matters
We are a little different from most of the efforts you will be called to support during Day of the Badger in that we do not receive taxpayer dollars as part of our regular budget for our community events or student leadership efforts. That’s right. Your support through purchases at our buildings, Memorial Union and Union South, and your gifts make what we do possible.
During this Day of the Badger, here are the ways you can make a difference:
André De Shields Fund
Your support of the André De Shields Fund helps students bring their artistic visions to life by providing resources to develop, design, produce, and perform original works with guidance from experienced mentors and professionals. Grantees will have the opportunity to refine their craft and showcase their work, potentially as part of the Wisconsin Union Theater’s performing arts season, creating a space where creativity and innovation thrive. Join us in celebrating André De Shields’ legacy and philosophy: “You must imagine it to manifest it.”
Matching Gift Opportunity: $3,500 Thanks to Jaimie Dockray
Undergraduate Student Success Fund
The Wisconsin Union isn’t just a building—it’s a place where student leaders create, innovate, and build a sense of community. Your support of the Undergraduate Student Success Fund provides tuition-based fellowships to Wisconsin Union Directorate Officers, Committee Directors, and Club Presidents, recognizing the dedication and countless hours they pour into making campus life richer for everyone. Your gift is more than a fellowship; it’s a way to ensure that these students can continue leading, learning, and inspiring—without financial barriers holding them back.
Matching Gift Opportunity: $10,000 Thanks to the Wisconsin Union Association
Cole | Hoofer Leadership Training Fund: Developing Outdoor Leadership
Your support of the Cole | Hoofer Leadership Training Fund provides students with the skills and experience needed to become confident outdoor leaders. This program offers hands-on training, mentorship, and certifications in outdoor recreation, safety, and leadership, preparing participants to lead trips and share their passion for the outdoors with others. Through workshops, guided experiences, and real-world practice, students gain the knowledge and confidence to navigate and teach in a variety of outdoor settings. Join us in fostering the next generation of outdoor leaders and adventurers.

Wisconsin Union Annual Fund: Enriching Campus Life
Your support of the Wisconsin Union Annual Fund enhances student experiences by providing resources for leadership development, cultural programs, and community-building initiatives. This fund helps sustain dynamic spaces, events, and opportunities that bring students together, fostering learning, connection, and lifelong memories. Contributions ensure that the Wisconsin Union remains a vibrant hub for exploration, creativity, and engagement. Join us in supporting the traditions and experiences that make the Union a vital part of campus life.
