Celebrate the start of UW Homecoming with a free students-only kickoff concert featuring Armani White and D.A.R.S.!
This event is for UW‒Madison students only. Students can get a free ticket starting on Monday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.
The concert will take place from 7-10 p.m. in Varsity Hall at Union South. Students must bring their Wiscard to verify student status. Doors open at 6 p.m.
In lieu of ticket fees, we encourage you to bring non-perishable items to the event as donations to The Open Seat Food Pantry. Donations to the Campus Food Access Fund are also welcome.
Promoting what he calls "happy hood music," rapper Armani White toiled underground for several years, releasing independent projects such as Keep in Touch (2019), before he broke through with the ebullient "BILLIE EILISH." (2022). The N.O.R.E.-sampling viral hit has led to a deal with Def Jam, White's first placement on the Billboard Hot 100, and a follow-up single, "Diamond Dallas." Dawry Ruiz, D.A.R.S. (Dawry Also Raps Sometimes), is an artist of various mediums, including rap, poetry, theater, and graphic design. According to Ruiz, most of his work is centered around his personal experience of growing up in Boston and transitioning between high school and college. (Source: news.wisc.edu) Fun fact: D.A.R.S. was the Wisconsin Union Directorate Performing Arts Committee Director in 2022-23.
