The Wisconsin Union Theater (WUT) has announced the 2026 recipients of the André De Shields Fund, awarding grants to University of Wisconsin–Madison undergraduate students to support the development and presentation of original, transformative performing arts projects.

Two of jazz’s most influential artists, pianist Chucho Valdés and saxophonist and clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera, will bring their reunion sextet to Shannon Hall at Memorial Union on April 30 at 7:30 p.m., closing the Wisconsin Union Theater’s (WUT’s) 2025–2026 Jazz Series.

The Wisconsin Union team will celebrate the 15th anniversary of Union South with community events starting on April 15, including a cake and ice cream giveaway, a limited-edition anniversary swag giveaway, and opportunities for students, alumni and community members to gather.

The Wisconsin Union team will mark the start of Terrace season with the return of its iconic sunburst chairs to the Memorial Union Terrace on April 15, followed by the Terrace chair return party on April 17 starting at 3 p.m.

Author and civil rights activist Ruby Bridges will give an address at Shannon Hall in Memorial Union April 8 at 7 p.m., at a Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) Committee event, presented in collaboration with the WUD Society and Politics Committee.

The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company will bring its dance-theater work “Still/Here” to Shannon Hall at Memorial Union on March 18 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Wisconsin Union Theater’s (WUT’s) 2025–2026 season.

Created three decades ago and recently reimagined for contemporary audiences, “Still/Here” blends dance, spoken word and multimedia elements to explore the themes of resilience, identity and shared humanity.
