The nonprofit organization the Wisconsin Union and Madison beverage company Karben4 have released two non-alcoholic, gluten-free, sparkling beverages, called Terrace Lemonade and Terrace Strawberry Lemonade, at the Union’s Memorial Union.
For the first time, customers can purchase Terrace Strawberry Lemonade and Terrace Lemonade exclusively at Memorial Union and, beginning in the fall, at all Wisconsin Union-run dining locations.
A new free event, called Swing Dance Night on the Terrace, will come to the Memorial Union Terrace on July 30 from 7-10 p.m. and feature swing music by All That Jazz Little Big Band and swing dance instruction hosted by the Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Music Committee, the Hoofer Sailing Club and the Madison Swing Social Dance Club.
The Wisconsin Union team will bring out a few Terrace chairs in colors not usually seen at Memorial Union, such as blue and purple, to join with yellow, orange and green Terrace chairs near the front steps of Memorial Union on June 21 from 2-5 p.m. in recognition of Pride Month.
The team invites patrons to take photos with the chairs. The rainbow of chairs previously made appearances at the outdoor dining and entertainment destination the Memorial Union Terrace in 2019 and 2022.
The Outdoor UW team has launched its summertime experiences in downtown Madison, including new services and events.
This summer is bringing a beloved tradition back to the Memorial Union Terrace but with an exciting new addition. The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Film Committee’s 2023 Lakeside Cinema series will bring free outdoor movies of many genres to the Terrace each Monday, with a select group of Sunday titles to be announced just before each screening to make for some summer surprises.
For the second year, a unique free summer concert experience will return to Madison – this time, as a triple concert series. The Memorial Union Terrace series, Lakefront Live, features live band performances from the UW Credit Union Terrace Stage played facing Lake Mendota to be enjoyed by audience members on paddle and watercraft.
The sounds of jazz will fill performing arts spaces at Memorial Union June 17-18 during the Madison Jazz Festival, which is presented by the Wisconsin Union Theater (WUT) and Arts + Literature Laboratory and runs from June 8-18.
The Madison Jazz Fest will conclude with a featured headliner in Wisconsin Union Theater’s Shannon Hall at Memorial Union on June 17 and a Juneteenth celebration of Black American music on June 18.
A programming team with a history of booking stars and stars before they rise to popularity releases its next season lineup
A season of stars and stars-in-the-making will perform in Madison, Wisconsin, as part of the Wisconsin Union Theater’s (WUT’s) 2023-24 season of jazz, dance, chamber music, an annual celebration of contemporary Black art, and global music, with subscriptions available for purchase beginning June 1 and single tickets to each performance available beginning June 16.
“The living room” of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the Wisconsin Union, will be welcoming graduates, their families and friends for a week full of graduation activities and events at Memorial Union and Union South.
The purchase of the Wisconsin Union’s limited-edition, mini, purple and teal version of an iconic symbol of summer in Madison, Wisconsin, called the Terrace chair, will support the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s suicide prevention efforts and mental health resources for students with a portion of each sale going to University Health Services’ (UHS’) Suicide Prevention Fund.
