The Soweto Gospel Choir will perform a new program, called, “Hope - It's Been A Long Time Coming,” on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Shannon Hall in commemoration of South Africa’s Freedom Movement and the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
The three-time GRAMMY Award-winning ensemble will open the show with South African freedom songs and then move into music of the Civil Rights Movement, including works by artists James Brown, Otis Redding, Curtis Mayfield and Aretha Franklin.
The University of Wisconsin‒Madison Homecoming lineup has expanded with a Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Music Committee and Wisconsin Homecoming Committee-hosted kickoff concert featuring up-and-coming indie pop band Alvvays with an opening performance by Madison-born band Slow Pulp, a night of free recreation and games at Union South, and more.

A time-honored Madison celebration, University of Wisconsin‒Madison Homecoming, will return Oct. 17-22 for its 111th year. Presented by the Wisconsin Homecoming Committee, the week-long festivities will include long-running traditions, such as a parade throughout downtown Madison, and new events.

2022-23 Wisconsin Union Theater season begins Sept. 15
An equity plan more than a year in the making, called the Equity Strategic Action Plan (ESAP), will kick off soon with campus stakeholders’ feedback driving the actionable ways the University of Wisconsin–Madison Center for Leadership & Involvement (CfLI) will work to further improve policies, practices and support of marginalized campus community members.
Carnegie Hall’s National Jazz Youth Orchestra (NYO Jazz) will perform on the Shannon Hall stage at Memorial Union in Madison on Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. as part of Wisconsin Union Theater’s summer jazz offerings.
Seating is available on a first come, first served basis, and no tickets are required.
The Wisconsin Union’s Outdoor UW, Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Music Committee and Hoofer Outing Club are ready to make a splash with the Union’s first-ever Lakefront Live at the Memorial Union Terrace on July 14 at 6 p.m. The free outdoor concert – featuring indie pop band Sleeping Jesus – turns the band at the UW Credit Union Terrace Stage 180º around to face audience members on paddle and watercraft on Lake Mendota.
