FAQ's for 2021
Reservations are not required and seating is first-come, first-served. Please use the provided Terrace chairs. Additional chairs will not be allowed.
Facemasks are no longer required. Unvaccinated patrons are encouraged to wear facemasks indoors.
Walk, bus, bike, run... and if you must drive, there are many parking options within a half-mile of the Memorial Union Terrace. See our parking page for more information.
We are bringing back our film, music, art & other events for summer 2021! See all our events.
It’s true that the Wisconsin Union is a membership organization, but anyone can visit. Membership is required to purchase alcohol, but you can get a day pass at the Memorial Union restaurants or cafés.
New for 2021, we have a table service area at the Shannon Sunset Lounge and Restaurant (west side of the Terrace), but all other seating is first-come, first-served.

The Terrace will be open DAILY from 8 am to 11 pm.

We’ve got everything from brats to gourmet brie sandwiches at a variety of dining spots located on and around the Terrace. Order in-person or through Grubhub for counter pick-up. Find out more about the menus at union.wisc.edu/dine.
Indoor restrooms are available for use inside Memorial Union.
Face masks are no longer required when inside the building.
Only enough food and non-alcohol beverages for a party of you (one), and outside alcohol is not allowed. So you can bring your sandwich, but don’t bring a party platter. You can bring a can of soda, but not a can of beer. We do have a variety of different dining options right on site. Learn more at union.wisc.edu/dine.
Yes! Kids and people of all ages are welcome.
Dogs, with the exception of service animals, are not allowed in the Terrace, Alumni Park or the fenced-in portion of Lakeshore Path.
Yes, as of the 2016 renovations, the Memorial Union Terrace is accessible for all of our members and their guests.
