Memorial Union’s first floor will reopen Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. with the Daily Scoop, Badger Market and Peet’s Coffee & Tea serving customers and the availability of comfortable study space.

On the opening day, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy live jazz performed by Madison-based Left Field from 1-3 p.m. while viewing the work of local artists.

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Distinguished Lecture Series Committee will host a lecture by Manu Prakash, an innovative scientist and inventor, at Shannon Hall in the Memorial Union on Nov. 21 from 7-9 p.m.

Illumination, a journal created and published by the Wisconsin Union Directorate Publications, was awarded a 2016 Online Pacemaker Award at the Associated Collegiate Press’s National College Media Convention.

The Pacemaker is recognized as one of the most prestigious collegiate journalism awards in existence. A panel of three journalism experts chose Illumination based on its coverage and content, quality of writing, leadership, photography and graphics.

Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) officers invite the campus community to attend monthly open house events beginning Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to discuss campus issues and multi-organization collaboration in a welcoming environment.

The officers will hold future open houses at various times and on various days of the week to ensure as many community members as possible have the opportunity to attend and speak with the WUD leaders. The Wisconsin Union team will provide light refreshments at each event for its guests.

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) committee welcomes astronaut Eileen Collins to speak at Shannon Hall in the Memorial Union on Nov. 14 from 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Collins is a highly accomplished astronaut who is best known for being the first woman to both pilot and command an American spacecraft. Prior to her 16-year NASA career, Collins served as a decorated colonel for the United States Air Force. She has received numerous awards and honors for her achievements, including a place in the National Women’s Hall of Fame.

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee will host an opening reception to celebrate the debut of a new exhibition by artist Rebecca Hamlin Green titled “Naturealism” from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 21 in Memorial Union’s Class of 1925 Gallery.

The exhibit highlights the structural components of domestic spaces and the emotional and psychological impact that the domestic realm has on individuals.

Elsmo is one of three intercollegiate sailing coaches in the United States chosen to participate in this year’s program.

The Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art committee will celebrate the opening of its new exhibition with a reception on Sept. 30 from 5-7 p.m. in Gallery 1308 in Union South.

This exhibition, titled “The Artistry of Innovation: WARF Patents Through Time”, will feature contemporary and vintage patent drawings from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF). The drawings celebrate the inventors of our past and aim to inspire the innovators of tomorrow.

The Wisconsin Union and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) class of 1963 ask for the public’s help in collecting the names of fallen servicemen and servicewomen who attended UW-Madison. These names will become part of an interactive, electronic[image class="right" title="" src="/assets/Uploads/bd8e667c8c/S05451.jpg" alt="military trainees" width="324" height="331" id="3041"] display called the Gold Star Honor Roll, which will honor these heroes at Memorial Union.
