Comedian, writer and producer Mo Amer will bring his comedy to the Wisconsin Union Theater’s (WUT’s) Shannon Hall in Memorial Union on Feb. 25, 2026, at 8 p.m. as part of a UW–Madison students-only show.

Amer, a Palestinian-American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer known for his award-winning comedy, has performed in more than 40 countries across five different continents. His performances include venues like Royal Albert Hall and Radio City Music Hall.

His first stand-up special, “Mo Amer: The Vagabond,” premiered on Netflix in 2018. He released his second special, “Mohammed in Texas,” on Netflix in 2021. This year, his third Netflix special, “Mo Amer: Wild World,” was released.

In 2022, his semi-autobiographical series, “Mo,” following a Palestinian refugee seeking asylum in Houston, Texas, premiered on Netflix and earned a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series received a 2022 Gotham Award for “Breakthrough Series” and a 2023 Peabody Award. Amer earned a “Best Lead Performance in a New Scripted Series” nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards for his role.

Amer’s other acting credits include DC’s “Black Adam,” starring alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and the Golden Globe-winning series “Ramy” on Hulu. Some of his television appearances include “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

“Mo Amer is a comedian and a storyteller, both funny and poignant, and relevant to the times,” WUT Director Elizabeth Snodgrass said. “He is the first ever Palestinian to have a TV show on American television, and his career is on the rise. We’re excited for the students to have this opportunity to see him in Madison.”

This event is for current UW–Madison students only. Students with active student Wiscards can purchase tickets for this event online, in person at the Memorial Union Box Office, or by phone at 608-265-2787. A valid student Wiscard is required along with a ticket for entry into the event.
