From Tel Aviv to her upcoming Wisconsin Union Theater-hosted performance in Madison on Oct. 15, Noga Erez has forged an extraordinary path through the music scene across the world. She began her music journey with piano and guitar, pursued composition in Jerusalem, and explored jazz before pivoting to electronic pop.
Reinvention in Her Genre-Defying Path
Erez’s trajectory is one of reinvention and genre fluidity. She fuses alternative dance-pop with hip-hop rhythms and world music infusion. Whether it’s electropop with an industrial edge, rap-infused pop, or energetic alt-pop crossed with Latin and Indian influences, she stays dynamic and unpredictable.
Her albums, in part, illustrate her artistic journey:
- “Off the Radar,” June 2, 2017
Her debut album blended EDM, electropop, industrial and R&B. It drew comparisons to M.I.A., FKA Twigs and Björk
- “Kids,” March 26, 2021
Co-produced with musician and producer Ori Rousso, her second album expanded her palette into alternative pop and hip-hop. It delves into personal stories, including generational ties and loss, while weaving playful yet introspective production
- “The Vandalist,” Sept. 20, 2024
Her first under major label, Neon Gold Records/Atlantic, includes Latin, Indian and Israeli sounds blended into alt-pop. It features collaborations with Robbie Williams, Eden Ben Zaken, Dillom, and Flyana Boss.
Personal and Powerful
Noga’s songs often draw from deeply personal moments of her life. On “Kids,” she weaves in the voice of her mother and meditates on generational bonds, including exploring grief.
In an interview with music magazine OFFKEY, she said this of herself, “If I evolved anywhere, it was to the sides. Every emotion got stronger since the last record [“The Vandalist”].”
Her work has a visceral quality with intensity drawn from her music holding a mirror up to the changes she’s undergone and giving listeners a very personal look into her life.
