Green Events

Green Event Certification

We offer event planners the option to improve the sustainability of their event through the Green Event Certification Program. The Green Events Team provides guidance and resources to improve the sustainability of events and aims to reduce the environmental impacts of events by focusing on six major categories: Venue, DĂ©cor, Communications, Transportation, Food, and Waste.

Virtual Events

We offer virtual event options to reduce environmental impact while expanding accessibility. By hosting events online, we minimize travel, lower resource use, and reduce waste, allowing us to connect communities in a more responsible and efficient way.

Biodegradable Name Badge Holders

We use biodegradable name badge holders for all events, reducing plastic waste while keeping attendees organized.

Event at Memorial Union

Paper Reduction Initiatives

We offer multiple paper reduction initiatives, including online mailings and digital communication, reuseable conference signage, and online conference programs. 

Unopened Food

Surplus Food Donations

Unopened, leftover food from our events is donated to local food banks, helping feed those in need and reducing waste.

Local Cheese Platter

Supporting Local Vendors

Whenever possible, we source from local vendors for event catering to reduce transportation impacts and support our community.

Recycling at Every Location

Recycling bins are available at all meal locations and meeting venues to make it easy for attendees to dispose of materials responsibly.
