SEEKING NEW TRUSTEES: The Wisconsin Union Association Wants You
If you've never heard of the Wisconsin Union Association (WUA), allow us to introduce ourselves: WUA is a non-profit, educational corporation that represents the Wisconsin Union's nearly 120,000 Members.
The Wisconsin Union Association is governed by Trustees who are dedicated to keeping the Wisconsin Union's traditions alive while fostering growth and innovation for all its members. Most of our work happens in our committees, which include: Student Engagement, Trustee Engagement, Member Engagement, Wisconsin Union Ambassadors, Finance & Budget, and Development.
Are you interested in becoming a Trustee?
We are seeking people of diverse backgrounds who can bring their passion for the Wisconsin Union to life through service on the WUA Board of Trustees. Consider nominating yourself or someone you know if you or they want to actively engage in in committee work to support the Wisconsin Union and WUA. You need to be a lifetime Wisconsin Union member, or willing to become one if elected. Terms are six years, and Trustees are expected to travel to Madison at their own expense once per year for an in-person meeting as well as to commit to making a personally significant financial contribution annually to the Wisconsin Union Association (please consult the WUA Chair at chair@mywua.org if you would like more information about this).
Nominations will be accepted until April 17, 2026 at 11:59 PM central time. The WUA nominating sub-committee will review all nominations. Those nominees whom the WUA nominating sub-committee deems to meet qualifications will be placed on a ballot for a vote by current WUA trustees. Depending on the number of applications we receive, we hope to have results announced in late Spring - early Summer.
To learn more about the responsibilities and expectations of a Trustee, please see the position description. To nominate yourself or someone you know, simply complete the online form available via the button below.

FAQ
There is no fixed or required amount to serve on the Board. Instead, trustees are asked to make a personally meaningful contribution that reflects their individual circumstances—such as their stage of career, financial capacity, and other commitments. The intention is to ensure that each member demonstrates a level of philanthropic support that is significant to them, rather than meeting a predetermined threshold.
Trustees are expected to attend quarterly meetings throughout the year. These include an in-person meeting in the fall (typically September or October), followed by virtual meetings in January, March, and June.
In addition, each Trustee serves on at least one committee, which meets monthly. Those with the time and interest are welcome to participate in more than one committee.
From time to time, there are also opportunities to join Ad Hoc committees, which may involve additional meetings as needed.
You must fill out the nominating form and be a Lifetime Member of the Wisconsin Union (or become one before you are a Trustee). Membership information can be found here.
