Tinikling is the national dance of the Philippines. It mimics the graceful, swift movements of the tikling bird dodging bamboo traps set by farmers. Dancers display agility and speed by hopping in and out of rhythmically clapped bamboo poles. FASO (Filipinx American Student Organization) Tinikling celebrates and honors the Filipino culture by performing this dance today to both modern and traditional rondalla music. FASO Tinikling will perform a traditional folk dance of the Philippines with a modern twist. This dance is done between the rhythmic clapping of two bamboo poles that follow the beats of the claps.
