Student 1- Lulseged “Lu” Afework, better known as Student 1, is a first-generation American of Ethiopian descent, born in Maryland before moving to Minnesota at the age of three. With several albums, hundreds of live shows, and a noteworthy feature with Tierra Whack under his belt, he has already managed to pull together millions of stream across Spotify, SoundCloud, Apple Music, and YouTube. His versatility can't be understated. Needless to say, he can flip from smooth and soulful to raw and rapid-fire instantaneously and effortlessly. There's no telling what he'll cook up next, and soon enough we'll get a chance to find out exactly what he's got in store. His highly anticipated LP “TRUANT” drops summer 2025, so there's plenty to look forward to from Stu.

CRASHprez is the rap project of Michael Penn II: the Fort Washington-raised, Chicago-based artist and writer. With hip-hop as the backbone, CRASHprez oscillates between the cathartic and comedic, parsing through the wreckage of his life, this world, and the deadlock between them.

This is music of rage and yearning, offering a Black queer man’s transmissions from a bizarre existence. These conditions facilitate a rap music concerned with chronicling the burning world via questions of power, desire, agency, and authenticity. Each song can be a closed fist, a fleeting thought, a pretty memory or sinister element. No matter where he may land, CRASHprez remains dedicated to taking “it” “there” at all costs, lending his light to spill what ails and smile in the wild.
