Sharp Pins is the lo-fi power pop solo project of Chicago-based musician Kai Slater, who also plays in noise rock group Lifeguard and runs the Hallogallo zine. Initially appearing in 2023 with Turtle Rock, Sharp Pins quietly issued the more fully realized Radio DDR in 2024. The album's jangly psychedelic pop tunes attracted an underground buzz, and it received wider acclaim when K Records gave it a full-fledged release in 2025. His album Balloon Balloon Balloon releases later this November on the back of singles like “(I Wanna) Be Your Girl” and "Queen of Globes and Mirrors."
