OUTDOOR EXPLORER SERIES: Intro to Adaptive Kayaking (NEW CLASS)
The focus of this class is to learn about how you can use and support others who have limited mobility in an custom adaptive kayak. Hoofer Outing Club and Outdoor UW have access to a custome tandem Adaptive Kayak that is avaialble for rental, however it is often challenging to get it out and used by those that need it becuase only a few people know how it works. During this OES course we will cover the specifics of this craft and get some preactice paddling it. Once you take this course and feel like you know how to use this kayak we can add your name to the short list of people who can use this boat and serve and an aide for those who want to use it.
Upon completion of this class, participants will:
- Know the history of adaptive kayaking
- Learn a little more about how this boat came into the possession of Hoofers/Outdoor UW
- Learn about the checkout system for this boat
- Get hands-on experience with this boat and all of the features
