Composer, producer, and percussionist Makaya McCraven transcends labels by synthesizing styles and cultures to make music that The New York Times calls “one of the best arguments for jazz’s vitality.” With his 2022 album In These Times, a project seven years in the making, McCraven “untangles the intricacies of rhythm and tumult” (GRAMMY Magazine), holding up a mirror to our world. At once chill and restless, reasoned and irrational, Makaya’s music narrates a transformative journey to finding new perspective in these times.
