Neo-soul artist Raveena to perform at Memorial Union Oct. 16

Posted: 10/01/26

Indian American singer-songwriter Raveena will perform a set unique to her Madison debut in the Play Circle Theater at Memorial Union Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Wisconsin Union Theater’s (WUT’s) 2026-27 season.

Raveena’s music combines R&B, pop and folk influences with traditional Indian instrumentation. Her work draws on spirituality and her South Asian heritage and explores many themes, including love, identity, healing and transformation.

In February 2026, she released a six-song album, called “Cocoon,” a collection of songs written across multiple album projects. She also released the single “Blissed Out” in September 2026. Raveena’s other albums include the 2024 album, “Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain,” which includes “Junebug” featuring JPEGMAFIA, the 2022 concept album, “Asha’s Awakening,” and the 2019 debut album, “Lucid.”

In 2022, Raveena became the first woman of Indian heritage to perform a solo set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

“Raveena’s music is imaginative, reflective and distinctly her own,” WUT Director Elizabeth Snodgrass said. “We look forward to welcoming her to the Play Circle Theater and sharing this intimate performance with our students, members and the Madison community.”

Tickets for Raveena’s Oct. 16 performance are $15-$72 and are available online, by phone at (608) 265-2787 and in person at the Memorial Union Box Office. Doors open at 7 p.m. Prior to doors, join Raveena for a special Interdisciplinary Arts Community Session (IACS) from 6-7 p.m. in the Play Circle Theater. Raveena will guide the community through a short meditation followed by a conversation about mindfulness and creativity in her process. This pre-performance event is free and open to the public but space is limited. Tickets are required for the performance.

Presented in partnership with the Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives and campus contributors, IACS is an interactive, on-campus event designed to connect students, faculty and the broader Madison community with artists. IACS creates opportunities to explore the ideas behind a performance through open conversations, rather than a traditional lecture.

This performance is co-presented by WUT and the Wisconsin Union Directorate Performing Arts Committee with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and Wisconsin Arts Board.

Patrons can visit union.wisc.edu/events-and-activities/event-calendar/event/theater-raveena to learn more and purchase tickets.

WUT performance tickets support the Theater’s programming as well as student leadership opportunities and Wisconsin Union student employment opportunities.

Those who would like to support Wisconsin Union Theater performances and student opportunities can make tax-deductible donations to the Wisconsin Union Theater Director’s Discretionary Fund. Gifts to the fund help make student ticket pricing possible, help students and student organizations produce performances in Theater spaces, and support needed equipment upgrades.
