Through interactive exercises that incorporate the tool of improvisation and leveraging the artists’ impulsive nature to spark creativity, they will offer participating students a rare perspective on musical partnership: how to listen deeply, communicate instinctively, and create work that only emerges through true collaboration and openness.
At its core, the workshop is inspired by Emily — No Prisoner Be and the creative spirit of Emily Dickinson. Writing largely in isolation, Emily pursued her art without expectation of recognition, driven by an inner necessity rather than an external audience. Her work reminds us that creation can be an act of freedom rather than performance.
Inspired by this idea, the masterclass will invite the selected students (and the observing audience by proxy) to reflect on their own creative impulses: why they make art, how collaboration and individuality can coexist, and how to protect a sense of artistic independence within a shared musical space. The focus is not only on technique, but on developing creative courage and openness.
