Maryland native Joe Pug has been stunning audiences across the country while on an intimate tour featuring other folk artists including 2017/18 Season performer Anaïs Mitchell. Honest and passionate, the country-folk songwriter left filmmaking in college to pursue music in Chicago, recording an EP in makeshift studios.

A decade later, Pug’s original songs have an overwhelming feel of authenticity, relying on his steely guitar-plucking and rich vocals. Seamlessly updating his genre for modern audiences, his latest album, Windfall, finds the artist meeting emotional turmoil with optimism and resilience. In addition to solo tours, he has performed with the best of contemporary singer-songwriters, including Steve Earle, M. Ward, and Josh Ritter. He has also appeared at Lollapalooza and the Newport Folk Festival.

This performance is presented by the Wisconsin Union Theater’s Performing Arts Committee.  This concert was supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wisconsin Arts Board and by the Wisconsin Union Theater Endowment Fund.
