Te Wisconsin Union Theater welcomes the Portland Cello Project to Shannon Hall on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 8:00 pm. Pricing is as follows: UW-Madison students are $10, Youth is $20, Union Members and Non-UW Students are $25/$27/$31, UW-Madison Faculty and Staff are $25/$29/$33, General Public is $25/$31/$35. Tickets may be bought online, by phone at 608-265-ARTS (2787) or in person, see locations and hours here. This is the full ensemble and they will be doing Radiohead’s OK Computer.

The Portland Cello Project transforms alternative/pop/rock music into classical ensemble compositions. Their precise technical ability allows them to reinterpret the music and still maintain the integrity of the original works and their unique renditions of rock songs wander from truly epic to breathtakingly intimate.

MTV applauded PCP’s music, saying “It doesn’t get more genre crossing than this.” They have played household names in Western classical music such as Bach, Rossini, and Saint-Saens, as well as pop culture celebrities, from Pantera to Taylor Swift to Kanye West to Elliott Smith.

Portland Cello Project first performed OK Computer in its entirety in 2012 for the 15th anniversary of the album’s release. Ever since then, pieces of it have remained in the group’s repertoire as constantly evolving musical meditations.

This performance is presented by the Wisconsin Union Theater’s Performing Arts Committee. This project was supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. WORT, 89.9 FM is the media sponsor.
