Do I have to be a Wisconsin Union member to enjoy the Terrace?

It’s true that the Wisconsin Union is a membership organization, but anyone can visit. Membership is required to purchase alcohol, but you can get up to three guest passes per year by visiting the Memorial Union front desk, a Memorial Union restaurant or café, or ahead of time by visiting

What is there to eat at the Terrace?

We’ve got everything from brats to gourmet brie sandwiches at more than 10 dining spots located on and around the Terrace. Find out more about the menus at

Can I bring in food and drinks from somewhere else?

Only enough food and non-alcohol beverages for a party of you (one), and outside alcohol is not allowed. So you can bring your sandwich, but don’t bring a party platter. You can bring a can of soda, but not a can of beer. We do have more than 10 different dining options right on site. Learn more at

Is the Terrace Kid-Friendly?

May I bring my dog?

No, dogs need to stay the Lakeshore Path, or beyond, except for service dogs, which are allowed.

What is Terrace After Dark?

Terrace After Dark is your summer-long, nighttime program that blends free concerts and film showings to create perfect summer evenings.

What’s so great about Babcock Ice Cream?

Just about everything. We’re serving this frozen, fresh goodness from the Babcock Hall Dairy Plant every day at the Daily Scoop and at the Terrace’s BBQ Stand.

May I reserve a table on the Terrace?

No. Terrace chairs and tables are only available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Is the Terrace accessible for those with disabilities?

Yes, as of 2016, the Memorial Union Terrace is accessible for all of our members and their guests.
