Outdoor UW Operations Staff (open to students/Graduate Students)
If you are looking for an experience that is equally challenging and rewarding, consider being a part of our summer operations team at Outdoor UW. Our team is passionate about outdoor recreation and provides support for all programs including Wisconsin Hoofers, Wisconsin Basecamp, and rental operations to a diverse audience. Our environment is full of energy and skills attained through this position are foundational for most career disciplines. Previous outdoor experience not required.

We are looking for experienced, energetic, and flexible students (non-students may apply and be considered as well) to assist with our private and group experiences program. We provide safety and facilitation training, but you bring the necessary paddling skills to assist in taking out groups of all ages on Lake Mendota during summer mornings. This position is perfect for those with flexible mornings and are interested in a fun and rewarding experience!

Snowshoeing Leaders will be responsible for leading 2-3 hour snowshoeing trips for groups of 2-25 people. The trips will take place primarily on frozen Lake Mendota, but also in the Lakeshore Nature Preserve (Picnic Point) and the UW Arboretum. Snowshoeing leaders will be responsible for carrying out the logistical and programming aspects of these trips, as well as facilitating bonfires and s’more making. This position reports to the Outdoor UW Outing and Ski and Snowboard Adviser. This is a part-time position with a highly variable schedule. The number of hours available to work will depend upon the number of snowshoeing excursions that are booked.
