Since 2019 this Madison trio— Amber Moth (vocals/guitar), Gage Moth (drums), and Mac Moth (bass)— has been developing their own cosmic gumbo of pop hooks, grunge, and garage doom. Drawing heavily from their combined love of bands like Frankie and the Witch Fingers, and Windhand, their first full-length album, "Honestly, Maybe," and 2022's EP, "In the Mourning," explores a wide range of themes and sounds including fantasy-laden lyrics, flippant sad girl rock, heartfelt indie love songs, and sludgy homages to their doom influences.
Their upcoming album, "Stranger" (Out May 25th, 2024), sees the trio focus their sound, drawing on a well soaked in grunge, distortion, and deeply personal lyrics disguised as pop melodies.
In a nutshell, Lunar Moth is for weirdos, by weirdos: Fuzzed-out doom and bloom.
