The same day that Purple Rain was released by Prince, Jeremy Nutzman a.k.a. Velvet Negroni was born in
Ramsey, Minnesota a rural area just outside the suburbs of Minneapolis. As an adopted child, Jeremy began
taking piano lessons as early as the age of 5 and attended statewide recital championships as a child. After
playing in several different bands in Minneapolis such as Go Nutz! The Clerb, and Bight Club, Velvet Negroni
would be birthed as Jeremy’s most complete and true form of self expression. With a sound that is equally as
based in the future as it is in the present, Velvet Negroni has been recognized by and performed alongside
artists such as Bon Iver, Francis and the Lights, Kool Keith, and numerous Minneapolis based artists.
Most Recently, Velvet Negroni is in Minnesota recording at Justin Vernon (Bon Iver)’s April Base studios
working on a full length project and gearing up festival dates both domestic and overseas. Presenting a
notoriously captivating, authentic, and unpredictable live show, Velvet Negroni has graced stages with
everything from a full band in fencing attire, to a minimal set up on stage by himself automating vocal effects as
he performs his songs. Unpredictability, has even gotten him banned from the popular minneapolis based “1st
Avenue” venue which he considers to be one of many career highlights thus far. 2017 is looking to be a
promising year for Velvet Negroni with a summer starting off with a slot at the European Forbidden Fruit
Festival in Dublin Ireland, and then shortly after Eaux Claires fest in Wisconsin.
