An uplifting evening of music and storytelling by MacArthur Genius Award recipient Corey Harris and American Folk & Blues musician Eric Bibb.
Guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Corey Harris began his career as a New Orleans street singer and, thanks to a Fulbright Scholarship, lived in Cameroon for a year and studied its music. He has recorded many old blues songs while also creating an original vision of the blues by adding influences from reggae, soul, rock and West African music. Harris was prominently featured in Martin Scorcese's film, "The Blues: A Musical Journey."
Grammy nominee Eric Bibb has been nominated for nine W.C. Handy Blues Music Awards and received the Best Newcomer title in the British Blues Awards. Appropriately described as "discreetly awesome" and "a total original," Bibb's rich and sensitive vocals and lyrics provide a perfect balance to his fine finger picking technique which melds a traditional rootsy American style with a subtle, contemporary sensibility.
