The Mad City Jug Band portrays Americana and roots music at its greatest. It is a unique 7 member performance band dedicated to preserving and celebrating the classic jug band music from the1920s and 30s as well as the jug band revival hits from the 1960s that were made popular by musicians like the Greatful Dead and Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band. Then there are hokum tunes from the early 1900s which use analogies and euphemistic references to keep the songs “G-rated”. Jug band music is loved by people of all ages.
The band features instruments such as guitars, banjo, ukelele, fiddle, harmonica, upright bass, accordion, kazoo, washboard, other percussion instruments, and of course, a jug. (Everything but the kitchen sink!) The band is a member of the Southern Wisconsin Bluegrass Music Association (SWBMAI).
