Tune in on Zoom to learn about the most recent America’s Cup matches that took place in Bermuda during the summer of 2017, and a preview of the next America’s Cup match that is scheduled to take place in Auckland, New Zealand in February and March of 2021. Three summers ago, the challenger Emirates Team New Zealand dominated the American defender, Oracle Team USA, to win the oldest trophy in sports. This presentation will illuminate the how’s and why’s behind Team New Zealand’s success, and a review of the video from these races will also provide a platform for discussion and analysis of some of the rules and tactics that are unique to this type of match racing. The evening will conclude with a preview of next year’s America’s Cup matches, as Emirates Team New Zealand attempts to successfully defend America’s Cup trophy against challengers from Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
