Sweeney Todd 1200x800
UW-Madison University Opera, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Union Theater, presents the late Stephen Sondheim’s brilliant tale of revenge and murder. Filled with beautiful music, arresting lyrics, and dark wit, Sweeney Todd is recognized as one of the most important pieces in American musical theater history. After being unjustly exiled, Sweeney Todd returns to London to wreak vengeance on the judge who sent him away. After his first attempt fails, madness takes over and Todd vows to murder as many people as he can while Mrs. Lovett, his business partner, bakes the bodies into meat pies and sells them in her shop.
