WUD Film’s 1st Annual Weeklong Student Film Festival

WUD Film's 1st Annual Weeklong Film Festival will run from Friday, March 4th at 6:00 PM to Friday, March 11th at 6:00 PM.  During this week, you will be tasked with writing, shooting, and editing a short film.  Your short film must include a character name and a line of dialogue that will be randomly chosen and announced via email at 6:00 PM on March 4th as a way to ensure that the short was created during the weeklong duration.  The short films must be submitted by sending a Dropbox or Box link to your downloadable content via email to wudfilmcollaborations@union.wisc.edu by 6:00 PM on Friday, March 11th in order to be eligible for the prizes.

 

Film Requirements

  • Runtime of 2-15 minutes
  • Short films MUST include the character name and line of dialogue announced on March 4th: A character with the last name Newman (must be communicated either verbally or visually) AND the line of dialogue: "You won't believe what happened at work today."
  • Short films must be submitted by 6:00 PM on March 11th
  • Don’t worry if you only have access to a phone camera!  We encourage everyone to do their best with the equipment available to them.


Prizes for Winners of the Festival

Submissions will be blind juried and the following awards will be given to the top three entries as determined by the jurors:

  • 1st Place: $100 Union Gift Card 
  • 2nd Place: $75 Union Gift Card
  • 3rd Place: $50 Union Gift Card

Submission Info

  • When exporting your final project, the video should be exported in either .mp4 or .mov format
  • Video files should be named following this format: “YourName_SFF_Submission_2022”
  • Submissions must be made by sending a Dropbox or Box link to your downloadable content via email to wudfilmcollaborations@union.wisc.edu by 6:00 PM on Friday, March 11th
