Sons of Kemet

Music
Thursday, October 4
9 pm
Cost: Free
High energy, Afro-Caribbean jazz band

Driven by a pulsing drumline, the Sons of Kemet’s energetic layers of saxophone and tuba create a brass band-like jazz experience. The group is based in the British jazz scene, but their music portrays a deeper exploration of African-Caribbean roots, while their name nods to Egyptian culture. Despite the dance-inducing and upbeat nature of their sound, they are also unafraid to tackle difficult societal themes through their music. Powerful, intuitive and authentic, The Sons of Kemet invigorate audiences with their refreshing and upbeat live presence.
