Slow Pulp is a four piece dream punk band split between Madison and Minneapolis. Their music perpetually jumps between different emotions, oscillating between a dream-like state and a frantic sense of urgency
THE EVENING ATTRACTION
The Chicago Bop-Rock five-piece made their debut in 2014 with a 10 track LP, Almost Desperate. Over the course of the next three years, Miles Malin, Paul Ansani, Nick Tumminello, Joey Abaroa, & Vince Pimentel - affectionately known as TEA, would release 4 singles, including The Kids Don’t Care, a 45” vinyl release on boutique Dallas label Classic Waxxx Records in the summer of 2016.
The Evening Attraction's recordings echo the harmonic structure of their favorite 60’s Rock and Roll groups, such as The Beach Boys and The Zombies. A vast influence from seducing Bebop era Jazz, Daptone Soul, to 60’s fuzzy garage riffs creates TEA’s formula of Rock and Roll that will make you swing, bop and bang your head. These boys’ brand of music is their expression of what they believe Rock and Roll should sound like in 2017.
The “Hypnotic Pandemonium” of Lucille Furs has been alternately described as “poetic rhythm,” “sophisticated and mellow” and “dream beat-pop”. The group describes themselves simply as “baroque pop.” The Music Manual UK describes them as “one of the hottest offerings to come out of Chicago.”
In the field of psychedelic rock, they are unique in their refusal to let the vibe take precedence over the virtue of the song. Peeling the layers might reveal a thinly veiled criticism of over-reporting and under-researching (The Fawn of Teal Deer), or the loneliness of voyeurism (Carrie & Judy).
