Join Alex Booker and Chef Charisse Daniels Johnson for a live cooking demo to explore local food systems, learn about the Youth Black Excellence Cooking Class Program, and enjoy collard greens, chicken sausage, and pinto beans.

WUD Cuisine and James Beard-nominated Pasture and Plenty Presents: Black Excellence Program Chefs Reimagine Culinary Roots & Cultural Staples. Join host and farmer Alex Booker and Chef and Herbalist Charisse Daniels Johnson for a live cooking demonstration to explore our local food system and learn about the Youth Black Excellence Cooking Class Program. Enjoy a taste of sautéed collard greens with chicken sausage and pinto beans, served on a roasted root veggie medley, with the event concluding with an open Q&A session.

Doors open at 4:30 PM, and the event will begin at 5:00 PM.

No RSVP or prior WUD Cuisine involvement required – all are welcome to attend!

Charisse Daniels-Johnson is a mother of 8, a dedicated advocate for health equity, and a community organizer with a focus on racial and environmental justice. With a rich background in qualitative research, governmental systems and grassroots organizing, she is committed to fostering community-led transformation.

The Youth Black Excellence Program is a space to build community through food. The program welcomes families to learn the many moving parts of our local food system from farmers to chefs and plant pathologists through a hands-on virtual cooking class with virtual field trips and science experiments interwoven in the lessons.
