Check out Kingfisher (w/Live From Mars) at the Terrace for a great night!

Kingfisher is a seven-piece band based in Detroit, Michigan whose music combines elements of folk, indie, post-rock, and electronic audio manipulation. They have been described as “a young act bursting with maturity, emotion and talent right from the gate”. Kingfisher’s unique sound features expansive horn and string arrangements complemented by folk melodies and a deep hitting rhythm section to create a rich and layered sound. Their live concert experience intertwines intimacy and raw energy to create a one-of-a-kind show, drawing comparisons to artists like Black Country, New Road; Bon Iver; and Big Thief. The band consists of Sam DuBose (vocals, guitar), Casey Cheatham (drums, vocals), Tyler Thenstedt (bass, vocals), Connor Hoyt (alto sax), Sam Uribe Botero (tenor sax, electronics), Callum Roberts (trumpet, guitar), and Kaysen Chown (strings, guitar). Kingfisher has played various venues and DIY spaces across the midwest and east coast. After the success of their debut album, “Grip Your Fist, I’m Heaven Bound”, Kingfisher is working on their second studio album. Live From Mars- Made up of 8 members from Madison, WI, Live from Mars was founded by trumpet player Adam Hoerl as a basement jazz ensemble. After a few additions to the lineup, the band has held on to its roots in jazz while expanding its sound to include rock, funk, R&B, pop, and prog elements. Live from Mars has 8 original songs to date, with several more under development. The band currently has a single on all streaming platforms, “Don’t Look Down,” a high-energy rock song that captures the freedom of speed and light. In late April 2024, they released their self-titled debut album, taking listeners far away to the rusty sands of Mars. From crooning ballads to prog-rooted epics, Live from Mars brings an unexpected classic sound to the modern musical arena.
