Ballet and modern dance with visual design elements

Since the company's inception, marked by a Joyce Theater Artist Residency in 2011, Jessica Lang Dance (JLD) energizes audiences by immersing them in the beauty of movement and music. JLD's performances have been named among the best dance events of the year by major publications in Dallas, Chicago, Kansas City and Boston. JLD has wowed audiences at world-renowned venues and festivals including Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave Festival, New York City Center's Fall for Dance Festival, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Choreographer and artistic director Jessica Lang has created more than 95 works with companies worldwide since 1999 including the American Ballet Theatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet (2013 Manchester Theatre Award nominee), the National Ballet of Japan and Joffrey Ballet. She was the 2014 Bessie Award recipient, a 2015 New York City Center Fellow and a 2016 Fellow at NYU Center for Ballet and the Arts. She has choreographed a San Francisco Opera production of Aida and is the Emerging Movement Artist in Residence for Dance Films Association for 2017.

Jessica Lang “has a knack for conceiving a complete universe in each dance — distinctive in its look and mood, sound and atmosphere… Lang's visual sense is remarkable, and it has come to characterize her aesthetic.” - The Los Angeles Times
