Becca May Grant is a pianist, composer, and bandleader. She currently serves as Arts Director at Fountain of Life Covenant Church in Madison, a multiracial community anchored in the Black tradition. Becca trained as a classical pianist and earned her BA in jazz under Joan Wildman at the University of Wisconsin. She subsequently spent two decades immersed in African-American church music. She particularly enjoys writing for vocal ensembles and accompanying vocal soloists. Her compositions draw on late twentieth-century jazz and contemporary gospel music, always with emphasis on collaboration and improvisation.
