Join the Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Art Committee for a projection of George Floyd’s last words on the outside of Memorial Union. During his arrest, an officer held a knee against Floyd’s neck for more than seven minutes. Video of the arrest on social media sparked demonstrations demanding justice for George Floyd and conversations about race, criminal justice and more. The projection will debut with a live, virtual broadcast of remarks by Natalia Lugovskaya, the WUD Art Committee director, and Michael Johnson, the president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County on the WUD Art Committee Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/wudart/. The Committee is grateful to Johnson for bringing this idea to the Wisconsin Union team, which the Committee then implemented.
If you visit the display, please practice physical distancing, and wear a mask or another form of face covering. Visitors’ assistance in creating a safe viewing experience is greatly appreciated.
