India is a diverse land gluing together people of varied religious beliefs and cultures. Given this, Diwali is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India. It is a celebration of the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, joy over sorrow, a theme that unites 28 states, 1600 languages and a billion people in fervent festivity. Every year, IGSA celebrates Diwali with an exhibition of cultural performances by students and sometimes, non-student performers. These performances include traditional Indian and Bollywood dance styles. Musical performances will blend Indian classical music and fusion compositions in order to cater to the global nature of the Madison community members. We look forward to putting together an amazing show with the help of over 100 students.
