With their trademark blend of Swedish folk music and American hard rock, Hoven Droven have proven themselves to be one of the most singular bands in world-folk music. Along with the usual suspects encountered in any run of the mill rock band—guitar, bass and drums—Hoven Droven wield fiddles, saxophones, clarinets, along with a host of other less-than-standard instruments that provide the vital folk element to the group’s sound. Though perhaps jarring on paper, the effect onstage comes off as purely logical and utterly thrilling.
