Students who participated in gAlpha Social Justice this semester will be presenting the social justice projects they have been working on over the last few weeks.
gALPHA Social Justice is a free 4-week program for UW-Madison students committed to making a positive impact in the world.
The team at nationally-ranked startup accelerator gener8tor and the UW-Madison Social Justice Hub works one-on-one with students to flesh out ideas and to develop innovative solutions to social justice problems.
The goal of the program is to understand the aims that students have for their social justice initiatives, and to work on capacity building to achieve those aims.
Beginning at kickoff and continuing each week of the program, gener8tor staff will meet one-on-one with students 1x-2x per week to whiteboard social justice problems and potential solutions, conduct market research, set goals around execution, teach how to validate a design with beneficiaries/customers, and teach how to communicate about social justice solutions both verbally and in writing.
$400 prize money is granted to the winning project at the end of the semester.
This program will run again in the spring, so interested students may consider attending the showcase to see what the program can help them create or explore the gAlpha Social Justice website.
This program is co-sponsored by the Social Justice Hub. To learn more about the SJH, please visit our website.
