UW Alumni Staci Griesbach is a Hortonville-born, Los Angeles-based vocalist re-imagining the Great American Songbook of Country Music in the style of Jazz. Griesbach delivers “a savvy Los Angeles take on Nashville’s countrypolitan standards,” (Marc Myers, JazzWax), interpreting classic songs by Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Shania Twain. Griesbach’s most recent album, My George Jones Songbook, earned her 4 stars in Downbeat magazine. The former UW Wisconsin Singer is described as “a vocalist who has taken risks and succeeded. Griesbach’s vocal range is exceptional.” (All About Jazz) Griesbach has performed her unique Songbook series across the country from Carnegie Hall (NYC) to the Country Music Hall of Fame (Nashville) to Catalina Jazz Club and Feinstein’s at Vitello’s (Los Angeles). Rolling Stone premiered “Walkin’ After Midnight” from her debut album, My Patsy Cline Songbook, calling it “gorgeous.” In 2020, Griesbach was selected for the SXSW Music Festival as a Showcasing Artist. Griesbach also launched a series called "Songbook Singles" to celebrate Jazz's more traditional standards, inspired by the extensive recorded catalog from First Lady of Song Ella Fitzgerald.
