UW students directed by Richard Davis perform the music of black artists from the 1930's to the present.

UW Madison's Black Music Ensemble is a student music group directed by world-renowned jazz bassist Richard Davis. The group performs the music of black artists from many time periods and styles, ranging from swing to funk to bebop to hip hop. In light of cooling weather, the theme of the group's second fall semester concert is "Turn Up the Heat." The program will explore all the facets of heat, from fiery anger to simmering romance. Warm up from the chilly fall weather and get close to the music in the intimacy of the Play Circle on November 19th.
