Artist Gallery Talk 3:30-4:00PM (Free to Public)
Mark Nelson: "Themes in my Art: Power, Desire, Fetish, Obsession, Gender"
Mark will discuss the ideas behind the art in the gallery, as well as some of the methods used to make the art, including stenciling on fabric and laser cutting. Mark will also discuss the idea of shrines and how the same iconic image changes as it is reproduced in multiples at different scales and with different color schemes.
Questions from attendees are encouraged.
Mark S. C. Nelson is Professor of Design Studies at UW-Madison. He is an expert in interior design, architecture and architectural illustration/digital visualization.
The exhibition "Shrines: Power, Desire, Fetish, Obsession" is on view from Dec. 2nd, 2016 to Feb. 6th, 2017 at Gallery 1308 in Union South.
