The Sugar Maple Music Festival, along with WUD Music, is pleased to announce an evening with Amythyst Kiah, broadcast via facebook live!
Third in Sugar Maple's Virtual Roots & Reasons Series, the show features online conversation and performance with Amythyst Kiah, moderated by John Fabke.
Amythyst Kiah is a Grammy-nominated solo artist, songwriter and member of Our Native Daughters along with Rhiannon Giddens, Leyla McCalla, and Allison Russell. Born in Chattanooga and based in Johnson City, Amythyst Kiah’s commanding stage presence is matched by her raw and powerful vocals—a deeply moving, hypnotic sound that stirs echoes of a distant and restless past.
Accompanied interchangeably with banjo, acoustic guitar, or a full band, her eclectic influences span decades, finding inspiration in old time music, alternative rock, folk, country, and blues.
Amythyst Kiah was scheduled to play the Sugar Maple Maple Music Festival in 2020 which was cancelled due to the pandemic. We are thrilled to welcome her to our virtual Roots & Reasons stage and the 2021 Sugar Maple festival.
John Fabke is the manager of Spring Fed Records. He plays bluegrass and old time music in Nashville and performs with his own band as well as with groups such as the Roland White Band.
For more than 5 years, WUD Music has hosted a Sugar Maple performer on the Terrace stage in partnership with the Sugar Maple Festival and we are excited to continue this partnership this year in a digital space, with such a fantastic performer.
